The non-profit Search engine & Social network - Est 2005
Anoox Privacy Policy - Committed to 100% Privacy
At Anoox non-profit Search engine & Social network, People's Privacy is one of the key foundation our network is built on, and has been since 2005. This page explains, in plain terms, what information we collect, why we collect it, how long we keep it, and commitments we make to you as a member of Anoox community to deliver to you 100% Privacy.
Minimal Data Collection
We collect only the information that is strictly necessary to operate our Search engine and Social network. We do not collect data "just in case it might be useful later," and we do not build hidden profiles of you for advertising or resale.
Search Data
We do not retain your search activity as part of a permanent, identity-linked history. Search queries are kept in operational logs for a maximum of 30 days, solely for debugging, abuse prevention, and performance analysis. At the end of that 30-day period, this data is permanently and irreversibly deleted. We we do not sell or share your Search data with any third parties.
Search Results - What We Will Never Show negative Private data about you
We will never list negative or unproven information about your life events in our search results, including arrest records, mugshots, or conviction records (such as a DUI). We believe, as the European Union has recognized through its "right to be forgotten" framework, that people are entitled to move past isolated incidents without those incidents permanently defining their digital identity. This is unlike Big Tech (Google & Facebook) that infringe and violate your Privacy at will, if you live outside of European Union, which can result in untold harm to your quality of life as exampled here
Cookies
We use a limited number of first-party cookies while you are on Anoox, for purposes such as keeping you logged in ("Auto Login") and showing you more relevant advertising while you are on our site. We do not use cookies to track your activity across other websites once you leave Anoox, and we do not permit any third party to use Anoox cookies to track you after you leave our platform.
Chat and Messages
You control how long your chat messages are retained. Messages are kept only for the number of days you select in your settings, after which they are deleted. We do not retain your private conversations beyond your chosen retention window.
Voice & Video calls-meetings
We do not record or retain your Voice & Video calls - meetings. Your Voice & Video calls-meetings through your Anoox social account, across the town or across the World, are strictly private to you and who you are meeting with.
Social Network Information
When you join Anoox's Social network, you may choose to provide certain personal information, such as your age, to participate more fully in the community. That information is shared only with other members of the Anoox Social network, for the purpose of enabling genuine connection and network effect - it is never surfaced in public search results, and never sold or shared with outside parties.
No Browsing History, Location, or Behavioral Tracking
We do not collect your browsing history outside of Anoox, your location data, or behavioral tracking profiles. We retain your IP address only for the limited purpose of identifying and preventing spam, fraud, and abuse of our services.
We Will Never Sell Your Data
We will never sell your personal information to anyone, for any reason. Full stop. This includes data brokers, advertisers, and any other third party. This is not a default we ask you to opt out of - it is a line we do not cross.
AI Generated Answers and Third-Party Processing
For certain search queries, Anoox generates AI powered answers. Some of these answers are produced using trusted third-party AI providers operating under strict data-handling terms. When this happens, we send only the query needed to generate a response - never your name, account details, or member profile. And we are actively working toward fully self-hosted AI infrastructure so that even this limited third-party processing is eliminated and all AI processing happens entirely within Anoox's own ecosystem.
Your Right to Delete Your Data - Completely
You may delete your Anoox account at any time. Deletion means full, permanent erasure of your personal data and account content from our active systems - not simple deactivation or hiding of your profile. Limited exceptions apply only where we are legally required to retain certain records (for example, financial records tied to payments).
Children's Privacy
Anoox is not directed at, and does not knowingly permit signup by, anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If we learn that a member is under 18, we will close the account and delete the associated data.
Data Breach Notification
In the event of a data breach affecting your personal information, we will notify affected members without undue delay, along with guidance on any steps you should take to protect yourself.
Encryption
All traffic to and from Anoox is encrypted in transit via SSL/TLS. We are also committed to strengthening encryption of member communications and messages over time, so that your conversations on Anoox remain as private as technically possible.
No Backdoors
We do not build, install, or maintain backdoors in our systems, and we do not proactively provide government agencies or any other outside party with special access to member data. Like any organization operating under the rule of law, Anoox may still be required to respond to valid, legally binding requests (such as a court order); where that occurs, we will disclose only what is legally required, notify the affected member where we are legally permitted to do so, and challenge requests we believe are overbroad or unlawful.
Changes to This Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or the law. Any significant change that affects your rights will be highlighted at the top of this page, and the revision date will be noted below.
